Using a folder in a fixed blade situation

As stated, share a story/make a comment when you used a folding knife in a situation where a fixed blade would have been far more appropriate, but the folding knife performed successfully.

First you have to give one example were a folder performs better than a fixed blade would.

I use my serrated resilience to cut low hanging branches on my pull-up tree. Takes a non-trivial amount of force, and a fixed blade does seem like it would be a bit more appropriate, but when I go out there to do pull-ups, I have this knife in my pocket already. But the lock-up doesn't degrade, nor does the knife develop blade play.

Your turn.

Your turn.
Using a crkt m16 01ks to split 3 coconuts while camping. I started by disengaging the lock and hitting the spine in a controlled manner to make a long deeper cut then locked the knife and gently tapped the knife into the same line making a ___-____-____-__
I returned to the middle dash and continued to tap the knife in until I heard a small split
Then was able to split it repeating this process.
Time consuming

I bought two spyderco Resilience(s), same ones, due to an earlier post of yours, on which thread I don't remember. Given them away, next time I'll only buy one but with plane edge, it has a good liner

I should add that the serrations are my own, relatively evenly sized and spaced instead of big, small, small; big, small small, and thinner behind the edge than a factory Spyderco. I love them.

The only example I can think of is sticking it in your pocket in a hurry. A folder folds of course, so it’s easily slipped into the pocket. A fixed blade? You may poke some family jewels, pulling that stunt! Plus, for a fixed blade, sometimes, you just may, lay a sheath down in the dark and it gets covered up with leaves. Or you might even kick your sheath off into the water of a running stream. 😯
