Using an EGT sensor to monitor forge temps?

Has anyone thought about using a quick response EGT sensor such as this:

Since it's electrical -it could probably be hooked up to a solenoid to control a propane powered forge or a fan on a coal forge.

The range is: 200 Celsius to 1200 Celsius (392 Fahrenheit to 2,192 Fahrenheit)

If anyone's tried it, any info would be interesting.
