Using Cold Steel Langettes On Other Brands

I recently came into possession of a CRKT Woods Chogan. I wanted to put some sort of over strike guard on it but have also been looking at the Cold Steel langettes. I was wondering, would fit without much modification on the Woods Chogan?

Thanks guys (and gals too if they should happen to reply)!

I used a CS warhammer for random demolition tasks when I remodeled my house, but the langets came with such dinky, crappy screws that I broke a couple even after drilling pilot holes. The langets went into my random parts box and are still there. They are fairly flat and will only go on the sides of the Chogan--I don't think you will get any overstrike protection from them at all. For the time and effort involved, a good piece of leather would work a lot easier than beating the langet into a shape that will fit.

I've had my Woods Chogan for almost 3 years. The only dings in the handle are from when it was being thrown like the tomahawk it is. Just think before you swing, and learn proper technique you will never need an over strike guard for the Chogan.

Side langets like the CS ones are more for weapons, to prevent them from being cut or crushed by impacts seen in that sort of context, not for protection from impacts in tool use.

Just putting screws in the handle seems like you're weakening the wood. You ARE, after all, removing matter from your handle.

On my axes with wooden handles, I've always given them a multiple coating of PlastiDip (1/8 inch AT LEAST...roughly). It isn't pretty (but can be...with patience), but it works FANTASTICALLY!!!! I've never broken a wooden handle yet, and I'm 43 years old! Always make it a bit thicker in the "overstrike" area.

It's nice because you can mess with colors to customize it, and it gives you a better grip without being too squishy.

AND, if the handle breaks, nothing is gonna' go flying at your friends or loved ones!!!
