Using Cratex wheel to sharpen ...

Hi All,
Recently been thinking of using a Fine or Med Cratex wheel to sharpen knives. What do you think ? I think it might be a good idea s it has abrasive in it and the rubber polishing elements too ! I wager you'ld get a nice smooth edge ? Anyone tried this ? Plus instead of a 2" w belt you couold get into smaller areas easier ? Thanks.....RDT

Cratex has a tendency to heat the area being cut. Maybe its just the 6" medium Cratex wheel I have running at 3450rpm. I think its better suited for deburring or polishing small areas than sharpening.

I would prefer a stone or diamond flat over Cratex for edges.
