I've been looking for a way to use my DMT Aligner hones on my KME Sharpener and found a pretty simple way to do it if anyone is interested.
The only change to the KME was to replace the set screw on the stone holder with a longer one. I used a 1 inch 1/4 20 but had to use a little red loctite to hold it as I couldn't screw it all of the way in. A 1 1/4" set screw would work better but I couldn't find one. I had read somewhere that KME used loctite on the screw but I saw no evidence of that. The screw was very tight so I used a heat gun to apply a SMALL amount of heat and it came out easily. Then I took a 1/2" nylon spacer an trimmed one end at about the same angle as the stone carrier. After that I just used the original bracket and knob and all worked great.
