I've read you can stand up the dmt coarsestone on the sharpmaker and use it there - but can someone describe how you actually do this - to get the right angle.
thanks
I do it all the time for profile work. I hold the bottom of the DMT stone flush against one of the flats on the sharpmaker stone. (I also usually only have the stone in that corresponds with the side of the knife I'm currently working on. Makes things a little easier.) The force of the knife usually keeps the top flush too. YMMV but I also don't use the brass rods when I do this cuz they get in the way and make holding the stone correctly harder. But then again I don't mind bleeding a little to get a knife sharp... I had a pic of my setup at one point but I'm at work so can't post it. I'll look for it when I get home tonight.
