Howdy gang,

I want to figure out how to add some rattle snake skin to my knife sheaths. I killed on the other day and I am about to skin and tan it in a 1:1 mix of Isopropal and glycerin. After that is there anything yall do to make the skin more durable or colorful. I want to make a knife sheath a pocket knife sheath and a hat band. The snake is about 6 foot.

Thanks,
Alex R.

Never worked with rattler, but do have a python skin I bought a couple years ago. It's finished quite thin, so I have always used contact cement to laminate onto slightly thicker leather. So far have only used it as an inlay with leather trim around the edge for even more durability. Looking forward to see how yours turns out.
