i recently got a MT LCC w/a black blade - i have been using either spray mobil one or another teflon based lube on the actions of my knife, and also on the blades, etc - noticed the black coating on the blade was discolored, funky looking - rubbed it down with mobil one, and it wouldnt come off - still looked discolored and funky - thought the coating was bad - then tried WD40, and it took the teflon(?) off, and now the blade looks fine - i guess the teflon was drying on the blade, and leaving a hazy appearence behind ?? just was weird because i use the same stuff on BM, REKAT, MOD black coated blades, and they dont get the hazy appearence like the MT did

just wondering if anyone else has ran into this.....

My first black coated blade was a Benchmade 975 I had bought about 5 years ago. I used to use Remington's Rem-Oil to lube my blades back then and decided to rub the blade down with it as well. While the black coating didn't come off, it lost it's matte black finish and appeared to get glossy. It was as if the coating absorbed the oil and gave the blade an uneven sheen.
