When burnishing with the chakma, should one use the broad side of it on the khukuri, or the edge side? Also if you are to use the edge side to do it, I have noticed that the chakma has a curve to it. should I use the "recurve side" or the "saber side" to work on the khukri? Hopefully my self-made terminology is not confusing people as to what I am asking. *L*

The edges on the chakma are better for doing rough work like smoothing out visible indendations or rough sharpening in a hurry, the flats will give a more even edge. As for curved edges on the chakma, you can use them, just don't draw the chakma across the blade, keep it in a fixed position as you wipe it down the blade. You will get faster more even results by using a flat part of the chakma and drawing it across and down at the same time though.
