It has been wet here. Lots of rain. The wood, the ground, everything is wet. Time to start a fire with my Bic and new RC-3 RAT Pack knife. I love the sheath that came with it. I attached the handy belt clip.

Love the high visibility orange handle on this one.

Trying to find anything dry to start a fire was a challenge. I used the RP to slice up some dead palmetto stalks.

With no axe or machete, I need to break up this hard wood and split it to have some nice dry wood to burn.

This wood is tough. Too tough to break over my knee. So I batonned the RP to cut the wood and then split it.

And I found some dry hard maple that should burn well.

The little knife performed well, splitting the hard maple. I got a fire going. The RP came with a good edge, but I plan to thin it more to make fuzz sticks easier. You can do a lot with a Bic lighter and this small knife.

I'll be that RAT Pack knife feels and works just like and RC-3..... :D

Well, with that different logo and color combo it might just change the whole way it feels and works, reckon?

Stands to reason. I imagine that Best Made Co's axes chop better with their paint jobs too. There's no other explanation.

Horn Dog Great Pics! Here in Maine we are covered in Snow. Like to get some RP pics in the Snow!!Thanks for the Pics.

I know my truck runs better after it's been washed, so I believe there's something to all of that!

Yah think? I thought it was a RC-3. Says so right on the ricasso. :D

Edit: This is my first RC-3, so it's all new to me.

Where you been HD! First RC-3 !?!? It's only the best knife in the whole RC line! :D

I was holding out for the RAT Pack one. I did have a RAT-3, but the handle was too small for me.

My truck likes being dirty. Might be a difference in automakers. I drive a little fourbanger Nissan. Back on topic; good pics, HD. I love my RC-3.

I like your post HD... I was wondering how the 3 would baton, looks like it works really good. I've used the 4 for getting through the hard woods but I like the overall versitility of the 3.

I pretty much use the 3 for everything on some of our stateside tarining. I've batoned a lot of pine knots making fires with the RC-3. Like I said, it's really all the knife you need around here....if you're not carrying a machete :)

I am surprised by this, but I think I actually like the RC-3 even better than the RC-4. It is really quite a handy little knife and it carries really well with that belt clip. The thinner blade makes for easier sharpening and with a little common sense and care, this knife can do well for anything short of chopping.

HD... love that rc-4 in the other thread :D

and yes I see the 3 as my go to knife... it's already on my lunada so it goes where I go

That's why I like it so well. Much better cutting efficiency than the RC4, IMO

When I first got into RAT, it was the 6 that drew me in. Was on a Big Knife kick. I grabbed an RC3 mostly as a side thought. It's become my favorite knife out of the line now. For 95% of what I cut, it takes care of handily. Still not ready to give up those big guys though :)

HEATHEN! Actually using your RP knife, and WORSE on wet stuff.... have you no shame! :)

Great pictures, and nice to see that you aint afraid to use it.
