I'm going to go back and reread using the search engine. In the meantime, if anyone has a suggestion on searches for 2 digit steels like D2 and M2. The problem seems to be that there are too few characters. Is there are a way around that? I don't want to start another D2 vs. M2 thread. Thanks. And Happy New Year.

You can try putting Bladeforums in the domain field at google advanced search or whatever web search engine you prefer but you'll get every post where the steel was mentioned.

I will give it a shot. Maybe I can screen it a little further. Since I want to compare 154CM and D2, maybe using both steels will help.

Or you could simply follow the suggestion in the Sticky FAQ thread listed in this, the Service & Support Forum, Search engine FAQ

If you want to find information on a keyword that is too short (the minimum is three characters), put an asterisk at the end or front. This may come in handy when you want to search for D2, A2 or M2 (three steel designations) for example. The keyword "D2" won't work, "D2*" or "*D2" will.

It seems to be specifically aimed strait at your question. :)
