Hey guys,

last weekend I did a survival course (I love doing them) and I have a photo review here.

Now, I didn't bring any CR knives (well, my umnumzaan would be my only choice) cause the titanium is just getting your hands very cold in no time. Titanium is an excellent heat conductor and the cold metal in freezing temps will chill your hands very fast.

I will bring my umnumzaan the weekend of the 27th of geb and will do a photo review here on that one about the umnumzaan. I'm hoping it will be very cold...

In the meantime, I'd like to hear your ideas/experiences on that if possible...

Of course, inlays on a sebenza will help (wood is a good insulator), if you're very tough you won't get cold hands, use gloves since they help heat up your hands... I get that :) But I just don't like handling folding knives with gloves, so for me a titanium frame is second choice. But as said, I will try it out next time...

I dont live in freezing temps, but the wind can cut through almost everything. Ti slabs I have learned to keep as close to my body as possible. Not to let them get cold in the first place has helped me! I normally go for G10 or FRN in colder weather.

Use with gloves would be a lot easier with a Classic or 21 Seb compared to an Umnu or a Regular-style Seb. IMO/FWIW/YMMV/etc.

Edit to add: just looked at your pics - of course, using a fixed blade eliminates all the issue of lock access! :D

I like to keep mine in the freezer just for practice.

Uh huh, right next to the industrial drums of Fosters, so the subject and the opener are close together? I wonder if the Umnu makes a good stab-opener for real kegs? Don't want to be in range when that test is done - I'll watch on YouTube... ;) :D
