I'm fixin to get a new pc and gonna put the one I'm usin now in the living room for my Mom to use. I was thinking about buying a larger monitor for myself since I'm going to get a media center pc but then I got to thinking, why can't I just use my big screen high definition tv as a monitor for my pc? Can I do that? Will it work??? I'm gonna hook the new pc up to the tv anyway as a dvr of sorts and a movie storage data base.
Lemme know guys!!!!!
Thanky!!!!

Oh yeah, I have a RCA projection tv. :D :foot: :jerkit:     :barf:

If your TV is HDTV and has 720p or 1080p resolution, then it should work. Your TV may very well have a VESA input (the 15-pin jack with the blue plastic center), or your computer may have DVI or HDMI outputs; otherwise, you'll need to purchase a scan converter.

Haaaaa, I was wonderin what that thing was for!!!
Outstanding!!!!!!!!!! :D

i think it also depends on whether your video card as tv out
dvi or s video both work fine
so long as your tv has either for input and your card supports them you should be able to make it work

i used to hook my pc up to my tv using my old radeon 9700 (i think) via s-video to watch dvds
my tv was a 10 year old sony trinitron, no hdtv involved, resolution was quite .. shitty but good enough for watching movies
