Picked up one of these what with all the Camillus troubles...

I'm impressed. That stacked leather holds a grip like nobody's business, and the knife itself came extremely well ground, sharp, and nicely constructed. Definitely a rugged user in a time-tested design. May have to order one with brown leather as well.

I have the brown leather version, and I love the looks and feel. The black one is on my list. I have the Pilots version also, but it just doesn't have the same feel, or look.

I got a black one in trade. I took all the black stuff off the handle and blade. Much more pleasing to my eye. Looks more like a hunting knife than a military knife, now. Nothing wrong with good ol' 1095 and leather.

Remember that old Ka-Bar ad with an old photograph which pictures a WW2 Marine taking cover on a stretch of beach in Iwo Jima, with a circled out k-bar worn on his side; along with a tagline which boldly states "Ka-Bar was there"? Well, couldn't it have been a Camillus k-bar instead? Just a thought.

There were a number of companies who contracted the "K-Bar" knives in WWII. As I recall there were 5 or 6 companies who made that pattern. Camillus, K-bar & PAL are three of the names I remember.

Dang! So it's a distinct possibility that the pictured k-bar wasn't a Ka-Bar? Anyone caught "Flags of our Fathers"?

Just would like to know if there were any Navy Mk2's/k-bars featured in there.
