I needed to add a few bucks onto an Amazon order to get free shipping, and saw this kit and thought I'd give it a try.

Ultimate Survival Technologies "Stoke Kit" fire starter.

Comes with their micro spark wheel, 4 flints, 2 of their fire starters and a waterproof capsule that stores it all.

Sorry for the wandering camera, didn't have a stand. But does prove this spark wheel can be used one handed! :)

Cheap, under $9.00 bucks, and Wal Mart is now stocking the tinder in 8 packs pretty cheap. (Although you can't beat cotton balls and PJ)

Thanks

I assume it uses the standard Ronson/Zippo style replacement flints. right?

They look to be the same.

EDIT:I had to go to the store today, so I bought a 6 pack of Ronco brand flints for .78 cents, and they work just fine, in fact they throw a little bit better shower of sparks that the flints that came with it.

A little change to my UST Micro Spark Wheel, that little brass thing was hard to hang onto, so I wrapped it with nylon line, similar to how you would wrap a hollow handle knife, and melted the ends together.

Much easier to use this little wheel.

I think Doc in Canada had a thread some time back about adapting the sparking lighter wheels made for Coleman lanterns. That is what these remind me of.

 Good to know. The highly visible orange wrap looks good too.

Nifty looking little kit and for only about $9-$10 depending on where it's bought.

Nice find and thanks for sharing!

You can also get just the spark wheel for around $4.00. I've got 2 more coming for mini-kits. The more I've messed with it, the more I'm liking it. VERY small and one handed operation, cheap flints that are available just about anywhere, what's not to like!
