This is the first time since GI that I have not been in attendance....don't have many knives for sale and am no longer with Rob Thomas Damascus, so there was no reason for me to go.

Any reports? How is the attendance? Besides GTC Knives, any very new or different stuff?

Thanks, and Best Regards,

STeven Garsson

Not cross-Forum bashing in any way, shape or form but USN will have reviews,
reports and best of all PICS, I'm sure.
I signed up there years ago, but rarely post.

I doubt anyone is back yet to report. Instagram has been FLOODED with crappy videos of the knives all weekend.

Well.... I got two emails from two of my dealer friends/clients. Both were excited to have me get right on acquisitions.

At least I can show you what WAS(N'T?) on the tables. LOL!! ;)

Soon.

Actually, Doug, I was cold-selling and posting too much.
I still have not been able to sleep at night.
coop- Do tell... or show.

We just got back yesterday afternoon.
It was my first time there. I had a good time and it seemed like a pretty good turn out. I was great meeting other makers and customers I hadn't met yet. It really is a "tactical" folder centered show, and the popular guys that build folders sold out easy and fast. Either by Lotttery, open bid, or FCFS.

Being a fixed blade maker, I did OK, sold a couple knives and some handle material. I don't travel a ton for shows, so can't say whether I'll have a table again next year, might do Blade instead as I haven't had a chance to yet. All in all the crowd was great and we had a good time.

My table.....

Simon and I checking out Ryan Johnson's had forged hawks. It was a pleasure meeting and chatting with Ryan, he is a wealth of information and knowledge....

My lovely wife Veronica. Simon Partied a little to hard.....

I think you'd like Blade more to be honest Ben. It's a lot more variation in the work and types of knives. I have some strong opinions on the Gathering that I don't share publicly.

Not cool, bro!!!

You benefit from the opinions that are shared here, if you have experience, the least you can do is chime in with your experiences using a "light" touch.

This was my first trip to the USN. The buzz at the show seemed to be Lottery's. At least in my humble opinion. Food was fantastic though not cheap. I was able to visit old friends and meet a lot of nice people. I was not able to spend any time in the Cove as the smoke was just to overpowering. (Hazards of a former smoker I guess.)

Best part of the show for me. Spending 3 days with my son.

STeven, I would have enjoyed visiting with you.

Let's just say that there seems to be a circular pattern between certain makers, certain collectors and amounts of hype/secondary prices that seems to be directly fed by the Gathering.

I was pleased to find out that Tom Ferry made out like a bandit when it came to award time. He def deserves kudos.

Thanks for the pics Ben.

I think a paring of one of your short swords/waki's and hawks would be a fantastic combo.

I have one of your L6(?) jute (hemp) wrapped small fixed blades in my pocket right now. Just hit the edge with a strop.

Glad to hear you got quality time with your progeny, Bing!!!!! I would have enjoyed visiting with you as well.....everything is a decision, right?

I have the Plaza Show coming up in about a month, and the Art Knife Invitational after that....no airfare, no hotel costs, just a little bit of time and gas and am there, but have really enjoyed the Gatherings in the past....usually pick up a flashlight or some oddball gizmo, but occasionally a knife that I can't live without....

Anyway, show reports are coming in dribs and drabs, hopefully we will get a good feel for the show overall shortly!

Best Regards,

STeven Garsson
