Utah campout and skills practice in June

Hi guys, some friends and I are planning a campout to Huntington Reservoir in centeral Utah for the weekend of June 25th and 26th. There will be camping, boating (Kayak and raft), hiking, fishing, practicing skills, shooting and mountain biking. The area also has some good 4 wheeler trails.

I'm thinking about heading to Huntingon Res a day early or staying a day later so I can have more time to practice skills and more time away from town. Anyone that wants to go early or stay later with me is more then welcome to.

There will be a group dinner Friday night and a group breakfast Saturday morning. People will be responsible for the other meals and snacks. Not sure exactly what I'll be making for dinner but it's going to be along the lines of Chili, Corn bread and Cobbler or Dutch Oven Potatoes, BBQ'd chicken, corn bread and cobbler. Not sure yet what dinner in breakfast will cost, so I'll post that information later.

There's plenty of room around the hollow for tents, bed rolls/cots and hamocks. At the mouth of the hollow there's room for a few tents, them more room on the bench of the hill and in a medow just out side the hollow. Last year I slept on a Cot on the bench and a friend slept in a hamock at the top of the hill.

A friend is hoping to bring his Kayak and I plan on having a Raft in time to use on the Reservoir.

I'm also planning a trip in mid June, probably the 21st and 22nd. Will probably be to Spring City canyon, Maple Canyon or another cool spot out of Sanpete county. More information on that trip will follow.

Anyone interested in coming is more then welcome to. I can email maps and dirrections to anyone thats interested in going. If you are, please post here to let me know so I can keep you in the loop. This thread and emails will be used for that. Thanks,

I am going to be in the Jungles of Peru (not really in the Jungle... I wish ) during that time, june 12 to july 4th...

Damn, the first gathering even close to my area, and I'll be in Wyoming that weekend! Too bad. Maybe we can make this a yearly thing, given sufficient turnout?

Ill see if I can make it and let you know, they (.gov) keep pushing back my dates for leaving, if they push a little further I will still be here for the outting. I will also have my new Kifaru Supertarp in mid-May and this would be a great time to try it out (after I seal it in the city park that is).

I just edited my first post with a trip in May. Looking at doing something May 21st and 22nd. Since you can't go to Huntington Reservoir with us in June, maybe you can come to the May Campout? I'm thinking of doing it in Sanpete county up Spring City or Maple Canyons. Though I'm open to options.

Raindog, having a yearly trip is kind of the plan. I've gone to Huntington the last two years and if we can keep it going, that would be great. 2 years in high school and all 3 years in college I went up Mount Nebo. That trip is one I plan to bring back this fall. Mid September when the leaves start to chance is IMO the best time to go. It might turn in to a 2 to 3 day backpacking trip this year.
