Pictures help and how does the tang stamp read?
Old Uticas, early 1900's are nice tang stamp read as follows with the top Utica in a arch:

Cutlery Co.
Utica, NY
Newer stuff don't know much, only what I've read here on the forum, with varying degrees of quality.
