Hey guys, I've been looking for this knife to no avail and was wondering if Ontario decided to discontinue this particular model. I've been able to find the drop point blade with the non grooved handles as well as a serrated version of the tanto, but no plain edge tanto with this same handle. Are they still in production? If not, does anyone know where I might be able to find one?

For anyone else who is interested, I just got off of the phone with a rep from Ontario. She informed me that the 8912 and 8910 have been discontinued. I'm assuming they are phasing out the rounded handle (non grooved) in favor of the square (grooved) one. This is a pretty big disappointment for me personally. Anyone have a plain edge tanto with the rounded handle that would be willing to sell? Also, are the scales swappable on these? I have found a few of the serrated tantos with rounded handles still in stock, I'm contemplating ordering one just for the handle, and then swapping the blade out. The drop point blade seems to still have the rounded handle as well, does the blade shape difference cause any complications if I were to try that same swap?

Hopefully someone will have some helpful information on swapping scales for you, but in the meantime, I thought I'd pop in here for a second. We've actually discontinued several of our Utilitac knives. We're not really phasing out one handle in favor of another, it just reached a point where we had a lot of knives that were very similar in design. Eventually, that can become an issue. Sorry to hear your preferred knife was one of the victims of that.

Although we don't have any of that one left, we do have some of the discontinued Utilitacs still on hand and on our clearance list. I've included a link below, feel free to see if you like any. The first link here is actually a round handled, satin finished tanto. (See what I mean about too many similar knives?)

Too bad. It's a really nice knife especially if price is considered.

Carrying mine today!
