Just curious what you use / recommend for a general purpose utility blade i.e Xacto or Olfa ? I have very good results with an Olfa CK-2.

http://www.olfa.co.jp/english/products/index.html

They are all stainless steel, very cheap, pretty rigid and EXTREMELY sharp !! The blade just slides out and is screwed down to lock in place. The beauty of these is that the blade can be changed in seconds and you get a factory edge every time. Very useful.

At my job we have the new Olfas. They hold 5 or 6 blades. When you dull the last section of the blade, slide the button forward, remove the blade, slide the button all the way back & pick up a new one from the 'magazine'.
 :D
The only draw back is that the handle is boxier and not as comfortable for long periods of use.

I wonder what steel those blades are. We have a couple of coffee cans full, every year....

Ebbtide,
What model of Olfa is that then ?

Diamond Cut II
Where can I find more info on the 'superknife' then ?

I'll check for a model # on it tomorrow.
(I thought you'd like that)
;)

I have both Olfas and X-actos, the small ones are good for detailed craft projects, the big ones for jobs where you may damage the blade and don´t want to abuse a regular knife, some are for special uses with special shaped blades (circular cutters, linoleum cutters, etc.). They are both good and well made and will do their expected job just fine, as will other brands, such as Stanley, etc.

Many regular knives, folders or fixed blades will do the same jobs (and other jobs). It may come down to whether you preffer to sharpen or to throw away dull blades (though I often sharpen my cutter blades).

It is called the
"Olfa Pro Load"
Model # OLFPL-1
Around $30 MSRP

Look in art supply shops like AI Freidman, Pearl Paint etc.
