I was just watching the 1960 Magnificent Seven. James Coburn uses an Italian Switchblade. It got me thinking... Does anyone have a recommendation for me to purchase a Hardcore/Utility Italian Switchblade? Swing Guard, or other?
Please Advise.

Agreed. The Kershaw might be your best bet. Their line up of automatics is pretty good for the money in my opinion. I liked my Launch 1. No complaints about build quality

The Buck 110 automatic is very utilitarian and high quality. Just make sure you get a factory one. The conversions are all different in their quality.

He doesn't appear to have a paid dealer membership, so no links, but Adams International Knifeworks in Illinois specializes in traditional Italian switchblades. Might want to check it out.

Mods- remove if this is inappropriate but please don't punish me!

For what you're asking for, I would recommend the Pro-Tech Godfather. Although I don't own one, I do own another Pro-Tech auto, and its action is second to none among autos.

I was lookin at some expensive Italian switchblades at the Blade Show a few years ago. I asked the dealer what kind of steel was used in the blades. He said it doesn’t matter. We don’t use them for cutting.

I've got a ProTech Godson, and wouldn't hesitate to get a Godfather.

But I want that Launch 8 too.

You can still get a well made Italian switch, but for EDC don't get a double grind, the edge angle is steep and doesn't cut as well as a flat or saber grind. Check out Adams International Knifeworks under Italian Classics. Last I checked they are a BF dealer. I've bought from them, they are good people.

leverletto.....

Yep. Also, make sure to get a flat ground one. The classic stiletto style Italian switchblade is essentially useless for utility. Many aren't really sharp at the edge to begin with, and even if you got a sharp one or were able to sharpen one, the grind will be so obtuse that it's still basically unusable. They're meant for stabbing, not cutting.
