utility straps to secure brief to top of rollaboard luggage?

Hi,

I have a thin brief (medium) and I'm looking for a good way to securely stack it on top of my rollaboard carryon bag. I'm thinking a pair of utility straps would work here, but I haven't bought the straps and before I do I'm just wondering if anyone has tried this.
