Just arrived from ebay, Uzi Defender by United Cutlery. Picked this up as another USA manufactured knife that I did not have a sample. 154CM blade and marked made in the USA, very sharp, locks up nice and tight, liner lock but liner looks to be thick enough for most users.
I wasn't expecting a knife from United Cutlery to be as nice as this one, not popular on this site, this model is no longer made but can be found by shopping around. Got mine for less than $30 shipped. I am not fond of the black blade coating but I haven't had it long enough to see if it will wear off quickly.
Anyone else tried this model out?
Edited to add picture, my model is actually ZF0016BG

I haven't got to try one but they had a fixed blade that really tempted me.

Someone disputed my statements in support of United Cutlery in a thread in GB&U, but the fact is, United produces plenty of decent folders and fixed blades at the price points offered.

From what I remember, some of the UZI knives were made at a US cutlery factory owned by the now defunct United Cutlery. I read an article about the new factory a few years back when it opened. The owner of United was trying to supplement his imported line of knives with higher end US made knives. I think the factory was called the "Arrow wood" facility or something similar. Unfortunately It didn't work out, but some of the knives produced there were pretty well made.

IMO you got a good deal.....

I read somewhere ( probably here) that the "United Cutlery" name is now owned by Budd K Co.

Huh, it looks a lot like the TOPS cqt-304 (sans a flipper, of course) are those TOPS knives made by UC, (as opposed to the thunder-hawke which is made by Fox in Italy)...?
