V belt choice for Burr King 760

I just picked up a 760 at auction. It is driven by two v belts, currently "Goodyear A28 (4L300) HY-T PLUS MATCHMAKER ORS/SC". Those are maybe a bit dry and squeak when I turn the grinder by hand. The grinder is driven by a 3HP 3450 rpm 3ph motor.

I've read all the stuff about 'matching is no longer a thing', but I didn't find any discussion of actual belt choice. What is my best replacement for the A28? Is there a more modern replacement? Cogs? Should I try and fit a dual belt? Burr King has their own part number and theirs are a bit spendy.

Thanks!

You might think about getting one of those fancy link-type belts... I hear it they really do a lot to reduce vibration...

I used a Power Twist link belt on my 3 step Coote and it really helped reduce vibration. Also, being length adjustable was very helpful. Expensive though.

I'm going to try some type of conventional belt first. I see horror freight does offer an inexpensive link belt - 5' for about $35. That is right on the edge of the amount I'd need for this project. I didn't do any searches for info on quality.

A question is whether an AX28 would be better in this application, especially with these pulleys being just over 2" dia. I spoke to a Gates enginer and he said generally yes. However, he added that if there is a vibration issue the higher mass of the A28 might help.

These are all inexpensive belts. Belt suppliers offer them from a half dozen different manufacturers, all at the same price (less than $5 for an A28). Tough to say which is best. BK asks over $18 for a v belt, so I will pass on that.

I see frequent Burr King member C catalytic stopped posting several years ago. He was very methodical in his BK restorations and I was hoping he might chime in.
