I know I may sound like an idiot for asking, but how the hell does the v-gar system actually work?

Do you mean actually carrying it? How it is carried? How it is concealed? Or how it is deployed/drawn? How it is used?

I think that the best avenue of attack would be to bring up the old threads, BTTT=Back To The Top. So, I will do that and save myself the Carpal Tunnel Syndrome VooDooChile...
