Just wondering if any of you hogs have put v-grinds on your SAR-3's. I've seen Ankerson's post but I was just wondering if anyone else has done it, and if they like it.

When it comes to ease of sharpening in the field, I prefer a v-grind because you only need a few small stones to get the job done as opposed to a strop and some kind of compound or sandpaper. Just my preference, and I'm thinking about changing the grind on my SAR-3.

Ankerson will be the guy to ask, hopefully he will see this.

I'm pretty sure he used an Edge Pro Apex to do it.

Mine were pretty dull when they showed up. So I v-edged one of my orange SAR 3's with an edge pro and like it very well for an EDC. It's with me almost every day in either a pocket sheath or belt sheath. Don't be afraid to go for it. I also did it to a BOSS Jack and a B11. Love the edge pro for v-edges.

Actually, stones will work fine for a convex edge. Free handing with stones convexs a v edge to some degree anyway.

Prior to production blades, all knives had some form of convex, and most were done with stones.

That's the beauty of a convex edge, you can maintain it with just about anything, even your pant leg, unless you let it go to far.

Both of my SAR-3s will get a flat grind on the Edge Pro - once I get around to it.

kind of off topic, but;

Powernoodle why do you have a IP identifier in your sig line ?
I have never understood why some folks put those in there sig line.

I find it kind of rude & without purpose.

I kind of appreciate the reminder about how much information we are releasing about ourselves (knowingly or not) when we play in the online sandbox. Plus I sometimes forget what my IP address is.
