this seems like the best way to contact you.

Hey v, I love the USMC bolo's too!

unfortunately they are both my father in law's. I had one rehandled with bubinga and a awesome leather sheath made. I'd love a Khukuri but I'll have to pass.

That's cool. I just had to give it a try. I wish I had asked my uncle for his when I was a kid. He just had it sitting out in his garage on a shelf, not doing anything but rusting. I just love the looks of them, and have always wanted one. I read a sci-fi book once called "Hiero's Journey" that was set about 300 years after a nuclear holocaust. The main character used a USMC bolo as his main weapon/tool in the book. Maybe one of these days I'll get lucky. If you can ever talk your father-in-law out of one of them, let me know. :~}

it.

story:

when I first met my wife, we decided to go camping and she had this cool little mazda truck. so she drove and I looked under the seat and there was this huge USMC bolo. I was like wow! she said my father gave it to me. I always loved it but it was in piss poor condition. it was all rusty and the handles were about an 1/8 of an inch apart from the tang.

years later I was working in a knife shop and in comes this guy who loves to rehandle knives we get to talking and hit it off. so I give him the bolo knife to be rehandled. not expecting too much. he brings it back a few weeks later bubinga handles bolted and epoxied an awesome leather sheath and he doesn't want any money. I force him to take $20. I am so proud of this thing that I show her father offer it back to him. well now it sits in his collection in a closest some where.

then this weekend, we were doing some work at his house and I come across another one I never knew about. all beat up and rusty. I ask him if I can take it and clean it up. I think this time I am gonna ask for this one for me. but now I am not confident to put a good handle on it. but I am gonna try.

looking at Newt Livesay's WASP it isn't too much different from the bolo. except the large recurve. but I really dig the WASP. and it is only $150. one day.
