I want to know about Gerber "V-steel".
A man asked me if it is the same as the Carbon V of Cold Steel. He has an old Gerber folding knife made from "V-steel".
I think it is not, but I don't know what is the "V-steel". I feel the "V";Vanadium.
Is it right?

This brings back shadow memories lit through a cotton candy shroud. They're faint...but growing...larger now. Rising from the grave of nonconsious and sliding with burning easy into the conscious. I now have the answer! V = Vanadium. Tah-dah!

Gerber used to use Vascowear.A very tough steel that stained easily.

Vascowear ? That is supposed to be an excellent steel for knives. I'll have to look closer when I see them at garage sales. Also, there seems to be a bit of trend towards thinner blades as they tend to cut better, so why didn't the thinner bladed Gerber knives do better than they seem to have, especially if they were made of Vascowear ?
