I was talking to my Brother David tonight after I sent him a listing for a horizontal stamp 1 liner 110 (he already has it) and the subject of a V1-V1 110 value came up..I consider it to be more rare than virtually any other production model Buck has ever made and as valuable as many early Custom shop and pre 1963 special order Bucks from the earliest days. But only a 110 specialist would really dig deep and spend more for one than say for a Mastodon or Ivory D guard or similar spectacular Custom Shop knife..In fact a V1-V1 really looks kinda crude and plain looking and from what I have heard not all that well made.
So I thought I would as my fellow Buck collectors what yall think one is really worth both for a decent looking used one and if there is any left a NIB with correct shieth and paperwork (if any). I remember a old thread many years ago where Joe Houser had one he offered for $400.00 with a light tan shieth and Most Buck nuts thought he was crazy! The fact is that one is so rare and so seldom offered that there is not much of a market..So if one is out there I would love to give it to my Brother for Christmas lol!

I don't know the fiscal value.
However, I can safely say a V1-V1 110 is worth considerably more than I am, seeing as I are worthless. :)

(BTW you need Gold or above to ask about prices.)

For me personally they don’t interest me and I wouldn’t pay 500$ for one. However I would pay/have paid substantially more for a custom shop which I believe is more appealing to the eye. As you have stated they are very plain the standard 110s

It's the Model T of knives in that it's more about how many survived than how many were made. It was a tool that was made to be used; and they were used. People didn't buy tools with future generations in mind, so finding one today in pristine condition more than a half century later isn't easy.
Personally, I don't value them very high as they don't mean as I don't have much interest in them. I would struggle to spend $300 for one where someone else might spend 2-3 times that.
The bottom line is that it's worth exactly what someone is willing to spend for it.

Condition is everything. Here’s one I sold to a friend for $1400. Less than 10 tan sheaths have been seen. One of the nicest first version 110s I’ve ever seen. If only it had the box.

I give up trying to upload photos to this site. I tried 6 times and every time it’s too large to upload even after cutting it in half.

Very nice farm! It's the first time I have seen one with box, shieth and paperwork. There is no equivalent in rarity for a 112. The exception might be one that Chuck himself worked the weekend the 112 was released. He set up at a hardware store in San Deigo with a router offering your name or initials engraved in the black micarta handles. I've seen one that David Martin has with a over sharpened blade. The 110 IS so iconic that one liners always attract attention but very few are the original V1-V1..Even handles are valued for parts but the blades are what makes it a true V1-V1 since they are stamped. I think there are 6 or 7 actual versions of a one line and some are hard to tell apart. farm I bet you get a few private messages after posting that pic of that beautiful first version!! Like Skyler said even the box is highly desirable! Yours also is the first time I've ever seen the paperwork that came with it and I was not sure what exactly was in it. Does anyone remember the details of the 'tan' shieth? I heard a few showed up at the 15th anniversary of the BCCI but I don't know the story. Thanks farm for the pictures!!!

afishhunter I'm sorry if I stepped on the line about value..I didn't consider that since I was was not asking about a specific knife but in general..

I have a chance at one.......but I can't decide between it and that Buck clock on e-Bay!!!!

I can't afford both.

Decisions, decisions.

Closed due to value discussion. You have to be gold or above for that.
