Anyone familiar with Virginia's current Concealed Carry Restrictions for Handguns (Concealed Hangun Permits)? Does this permit also cover simply pocketknives (say a regular folding pocketknife with 4" blade and two smaller blades)? Said another way, in VA, if you have a Concealed Hangun Permit can you carry gun and pocketknife or just gun?

Thanks for legal opinions or cites...

VA CCW permit applies only to handguns.

A folding knife of any length is regarded as a "penknife" and may be carried concealed by anyone as long as it is not an automatic or "of like kind" to a dirk. Most "tactical folders" would be fine, but a Ti-Lite VI would be questionable and possibly prohibited. If the pocketclip is visible, it may not be considered "concealed."

Check out Virginia code section 18.2-308 that is the concealed wepons code of Virginia.

There is no STATE (commonwealth) law which refers to a folders blade length. As a former Deputy we never much worried about blade length unless the folder was used in a crime.

Other than that depending where you are and who you run into, you're pretty much good to go.
