I use my Procut grinder to profile blades and do most of my handle work on this machine also. It is very usefull for both operations. The only drawback is when I go from tool rest work to platen or slack belt useage I get the grindings in my lap. [I sit when I grind.] I wanted something that would control the grindings in either mode. I wanted to be able to switch from one to the other quickly. This is what I came up with. I used a cut down gas can and a piece of alum. sheet for materials. Looks a little weird but it works great. I set aside half a day on Fridays to make jigs do repairs or projects like this. When I get back to the shop on Mondays it goes a little easier. Mostly.

Pretty good idea, I've been thinking something like that. I've got a Shopvac and it helps, but doesn't get everything. Something like you've got set-up would help cut the dust down.

Morning Will, It cost nothing to build this rig, except the loss of a gas can. About 2 hours or so to build it. I used it this Sat. on some handles and it worked great. Just reached down and turned it up or down depending on what I needed to catch.

Have a good one, Fred
