Good day all,

I recently spent some time off on holidays and i wanted to share the great Alberta outdoors with you; just so all of you can see what your missing out on.

The vacation started out in the shi**er. it all started when i pulled over to adjust the straps on a quad. Now, i was hauling two quads and pulling a bumper tow trailer when my tranny decided to let go of the top two gears. once the tranny heated up and entered limp mode all the gearing i had was 4th. i managed the steep hills, stops and starts the rest of the way (approx. 250km, so ~ 150 miles) dropped the load off my poor truck and set up camp.

the next day, after limping my truck to a local tranny shop 120 miles away, i attended a turnaround at a local battery of one of my clients. i performed a few vessel internal inspections however the reboiler that was taken down that morning was still too hot to enter. Now keep in mind the forecast for this week is low to mid 30 degree celcius (which is about 90 fahrenheit, friggin hot here). So what was supposed to take a few hours lasted all day. fun. I got back to camp about 8pm and the friends had showed up and were already 3-4 deep.

Wednesday, well wednesday was a positive negative day. I had a great day of quadding ended by one of my front wheels falling off. i was jettison from my machine which decelerated from 20-25 miles an hours to zero, in exactly zero seconds. i glided softly on the side of my head over the gravel and cart wheeled into the ditch to land softly on a pile of conveniently placed rocks...

Thursday i took my machine in to the dealer that had serviced it RIGHT before i took it out. Voila, negligence causing bodily harm. I was checked out by the docs and told concussion, minor scrapes, major bruising (hip and a** have lots of meat). Luckily for me, this was the first time in 25 years riding that i wore a helmet.... how f'n lucky is that?

Anyway, too long of rant, the rest of the week was pretty tame. Busse content: SJTAC LE, Team Gemini tigerhide and RMD LE. Uncaptured: War Boar, FBM LE

Pics in no particular order:

Beautiful country, and looks like you ate well. With YOUR luck, good thing you didn't encounter a bear!..............:D

After 6 years of trauma team in the emergency room I'm a big fan of helmets. You got well and truly stuck in that mud hole there!

That looks like an ideal vacation from the pictures. Sorry to hear that you had to make a trip to the doctor, but at least you were wearing a helmet this time. Great pics

Haha thats not me stuck. My quad is the other can am in the background. I didnt get stuck at all. Boo ya.

It is an incredible place to be. I recommend it to everyone. The doctor was just for reassurance that I wasnt seriously injured. It was straight back on the quad after. Wasnt as fun with a splitting headache but I wouldnt miss it for the world.

Ive been opposed to helmets as I never grew up riding with them. I dont like how the senses are dulled and in some cases muted entirely. That said I am a fan of keeping my face in place.

I've enjoyed your vacation! Wish I had a 4 wheeler & a TGLE. Well, I has me a SOB and 3 RMD's (+ another coming from the exchange). I can't complain much now, can I?

Thanks for the sharing the pics!

Kenash - It is the greatest feeling to go somewhere where few, if any have been. The best part is having friends to share it with. Good, no, the best gear is a second. I never planned on using the TGLE as i have thought about selling it and if i did i wanted it in the unused condition. oh well, its a hell of a blade, and it worked its way on to my edc when im in the bush.

RMDs are super awesome blades, i have a few of my own...even fortunate enough to have a few in INFI... I'd say the perfect all around blade. the SOBs are a pretty sweet catch too.

I love showing everyone the beauty of where i live. It would be great to have an adventure with some of you. It seems to me that all of you live in some pretty sweet spots too.

It looks like you had a great time! I really want to go four wheeling soon  Looks like a blast :D

I want to go back to Canada again. All those pics makes me miss the nearly untouched terrain up there.

Pokey- It was a great time overall. You definitely need to!! Try to go in Canada though its got some real nice hideouts most don't even know about.

Hindsight- Canada is incredible, i didn't take pictures of a lot of the places we went just because it was awe inspiring and i forgot. Too busy enjoying, not that pictures ever do justice to places like that anyway.

It sounds to me like the Busse crew needs to make a trip north of the border!! Come on up!

Are you saying your a wanted man up here or are you saying home won't take you back after you've been up here? HA!

I know, trust me I didn't want to come home, but with my bell rung I didn't put up too much of a fight.

HA! Kevin, it was a "where do i put the wipe so it wont get dirty or wet?!?!" moment...then the sun shone down on me like the man himself was telling me to draw steel. I swear it.
