Aloha, well i brought several knives to Molokai with me spyderco endura ,
spyderco salt 1,bm730,cs recon 1 clip point, sog seal pup, assorted sak,
leatherman wave and 2000. first day carried salt 1 and cs recon 1 man..
the cs spring and screws rusted  sooooo..oiled it and put it away.

that was to be my back up to my dive knife.(sog seal pup) bm not even
coming out of the room.the endura been sold in the water for 4 days
swimming,snorkeling,fishing the vg-10 has held up great.the salt 1 is a little
too short to for a back up dive knife foe me:) the seal pup is as strong as an
ox, haven't cut much with it just pried a little.well back to testing my cutlery.

man this is rough work:D tyrantblade

Wow, fun trip. I've never been, but one of my greatest "spiritual" examples was Father Damien on Molokai, have always wanted to see the place where he lived.

He was a dutch priest that spent many years ministering to the leper colony on Molokai, (wen most priest refused to go there) until he eventually contracted the disease himself and died.

How do you like the seal pup??? I have one and was considering using it as a grab and go survival knife for any destination...but I was concerned with the aus 6 edge holding up.

i'ts a good trade off between rust resistance and edge holding haven't had to touch it up yet,but just using it as a dive/fishing knife
its exceeded myexpectations:D i have the kydex sheath i took the belt clip off and threaded 550 cord thru the holes and hang off
my swim shorts upside down, only whine is the 1" of space between the edge and hilt.i'm real pleased with my sog xray vision i've
been using it as a back up to the dive knife when needed, the tanto's real stout for prying ;) with the pups light weight and size its
now my survival kit knife after this trip ......oh wait i'll need for fishing and rafting hmm.... i guess i'll just have to buy an elite also;)

well, seal pup doing okay split two yup two coconuts with it last night
the edge was gettin dull didn't take long to get it razor sharp
its been in the salt water everyday for about 5 days i think no problems
sog xray vision ats-34 started showing surface rust 3rd or 4th day
a little water rinse and some oil took care of it;) but...the endura with vg-10
has been the water 8 days and no..no rust at all blade or lock work:D
way to go sal now when i get back i'm investing in a endura gen 4:)

I have had such good results with My spydercos in salt water over the years I cant help but wonder If the Salt Series is Even Necissary.

Im glad to hear your luck has been good too :D

Keep the reports coming:thumbup:

today went ocean kayaking took SOG seal pup and spyderco endura after lunch saw some blue crevelle (ulea) while sitting in a shallow mangrove
rigged up a spear for fishing with the seal pup but the situation didn't present itself.instead we found a samoan crab about 10" diameter we didn't have
a real net sooo. i whipped out the endura slit the snorkel gear net and rigged with the paddle halve,we had a descent net to catch the crab.:) it turned out
the crab looked whole small small octopus had eaten it:barf: (they suck the meat out)

well back to test the cutlery:D

Tyrant blade sounds like your a big fan of the seal pup...would you trust it as a camp knife??? and what techniques do you use to sharpen it? Thanks for the informative review

the seal pup did well in Hawaii, originally bought as a camp knife now its
my river/dive knife goes in my survival kit as the main blade sharpening technique depending on how dull it is,
touch up Arkansas hard
real dull Gerber 6" diamond stone then Arkansas hard
in my survival kit i have a benchmade carbide sharpener if needed in the field:D
