I have gone through 3 Foodsaver vacuum sealer machines in 4 years. The seem to be the only game in town. Does anyone have and recommendation? Plus their bags are expensive!

I process and package a couple hundred pounds of fish and 1 elk and 1 deer on average each year.

Thanks!

I went through a couple and then bought one with a more powerful motor (still a Foodsaver) it seems to be holding up well. As for bags, I only buy them bulk at Sams Club.

Did you use the warranty for those?

If you want to try another brand, maybe this one would do?:

I'd say the bags aren't cheaper, but I assume you're buying this stuff from retail, which has a significant markup in most cases.

I prefer to do my shopping(or at least review a product) on Amazon. For best prices(on shipping too), I review on Amazon, and buy on eBay.

I think your use is well into the commercial range, so I agree with the guys who are voting in that direction. I would also start looking to restaurant supply stores for your bags and such, since you are buying a fair amount, if you don't want to do the amazon thing. In fact, you might still get a good deal from them over amazon, you never know. Plus with a local store, you might be able to get different grades of bag easier, so you can use cheaper bags for some stuff, depending on your needs. If you don't need a sous-vide grade bag, you might be paying more for something you don't need.
