Vacuum bagging sheaths?

I went and got a slab of cow and I'm going to have a go at making a few sheaths.
Has anyone tried to vacuum bag a chunk of leather onto a folder with any success? Fixed blade? I'm thinking of making a wooden fixed blade blank to suck a chunk of cow onto.
I'm supposed to be a woodworker and we often utilize a vacuum bag system... always was curious how it'd work with leather.
I see people using tools to imprint the details of the blade into the leather and wonder if the V/B would give the perfect leather mold without screwing up the leather.
Any input would be appreciated.
Thanks.

I tried it twice, one time it was okay the next didn't work so well. I was only using the sandwich bag el cheapo type though. You still have to do most of your molding by hand. You would also have to place the sheath on a board, to keep your back side flat, otherwise the sheath would have a tendency to curl around on the edges. The only problem i really see with vacuum is once it is sucked up tight the moisture can't escape and the sheath can't dry out to hold the shape. I think the one that worked out alright I had pretty dry before i vacuumed it.
Give it a try and let us know how it worked out , I would love to see the results.
