I got this in the mail yesterday from Alabma steel company. I have never made a knife that waste full tang. In a vain way it seems stupid to bury half of it under a handle

It's really pretty. I make knives from scrap so I've never had a real nice peice of steel like this

Any ideas to get the longest blade I can and a good solid way to attach ?

Can you show a few pics of your typical work ?
I think some of us are having a tough time following your line of thinking.

A skeleton frame handle may be tough to pull of but could be very cool. I’d probably just make a pocket sheath for it and call it a day as is.

You could do one though:

But after enough times ya get over it:

If I'm reading your question right?

not sure i follow the question either.

that pic is a buck paclite skinner - i have one, and thats how it comes from the factory - except the one i own is coated.
I added a paracord wrap to the handle, but otherwise I use that just the way it is

Alabama steel he references maybe Alabama Damascus? Its the steel used in those three pics of damascus knives I made. I think he's talking about covering up the pretty steel with a handle for a full tang knife. Thats why I thought he'd posted the wrong pic showing the Buck. Quien Sabe?

I think I get what you are asking. I have never seen a skeleton handled knife, of any fantastic Damascus/San Mai steel, ever, that I would not have preferred to see used to make a knife with a proper handle.

Well.....somebody's got to say it.

That knife isn't damascus.

It's sanded or wire wheeled....probably to remove the coating. The "pattern" is scratches.
