did not take a wide angle lens, but I did have to walk up a small set of stairs to get them all in the same shot-- the wooden crate is full of HI swords, the piles of knives around the table are mostly HI, some antiques-- the only part of my collection not included in this picture is my guns and mandau, I also left out my other black powder guns, the hasiya has no sheath so I put it with my reproduction pistol.

so you all asked and I feel some small shame with the amount of time it took me to move it, the amount of weight in base steel it actually is, and the fact that I still think its perfectly ok and Im going to get more.

the surrounding wilds , my house is alone on this hill , but there are some homes across the valley swamp, this is the lowest deck area of my home, near spring creek , a tributary of the Hatchie watershed in Tennessee

this is the first picture taken after the advice on the other thread was used :

so thanks all for the help in the photo thread, thanks all on the forum for your friendship and good humor, I must apologize to bluelander for consistently abusing his "not much" thread to post my own stuff , and invite him to do the same to me here :D-- I will use this thread to share updates in the armory with you guys, as I continue to purchase antiques and HI products, mainly of a edged persuasion-- also I have some customs coming from some very special people , some will be years some maybe not, but lots of cool stuff will end up here eventually. use this thread to discuss collecting in general of any type, as I will eventually post my pistols and rifles etc here too. also I am sure many of these blades will find new homes in my lifetime and after ! so this is really to help my inheritors sell off all my crap when I die :D

That carved sheath on the falcata looks amazing!

Awesome collection and you managed to get some decent photos there. ;)

yeah going to do a single profile of every piece of collection, just like the 32 inch kobra above, yeah you can see many of the other test pictures in the photobucket. thanks phil-- will def be taking more close ups of the falcata soon, compare the lok and the bura-- that falcata is of the tedwca collection that i got many very cool gems from.

Amazing stuff there. I don't wanna look for too long or I will get upset!

The human hair on that one freaks me ou every time! I don't know how you keep that thing in your house LOL!

I built a shrine for them. The mandau's get special treatment above my other antiques, I feel like they are alive, and I don't want to irritate them. So plenty of incense, nobody touches them , and I leave them feathers from my parrots ( a blue and gold macaw and two amazons)-- I get the same feeling when I look at them as you phil, I just really like that feeling lol. also oil, oil and more oil, for the wood and the steel.
also been researching refurbishing mandau, as they break down easy outside the blade. several of the blades I have are obviously retouched, and a couple that I have would hold up loads better to just being looked at with a little refurbishing.

Looking forward to the individual blade images, but glad you started with a group shot. It sure makes a statement seeing all of them together like that. I also love your "backyard" it looks so peaceful and not a neighbor in sight. Just as it should be. Wish I had that kind of landscape too. I shall watch this thread with eager anticipation as you show closeups of each one of those :)
Thank you for sharing.

OMG!! that is a whole pile of kuks, how long have you been collecting?

Wow Gehazi, Sounds like things fell into place in such a unique way, but definately fell into place the way it needed to be for you. Everyone's path is different, and yours is more unique than many but it sounds like each piece fits. I especially like that the person who appears to have caused the financial difficulties at the business is the one that suffered the results of you needing to terminate a position. You rarely see it work out that well in so short a time karma is generally a longer arc than that. :D And to think, propane and your willingness to take on resposibility for the members in your family that needed your support all lead to that very massive pile of well sharpened steel.

thanks shav, I think we all end up where we are needed, don't claim to know the purpose but I think there is one. I hope everyone enjoys the things I gather, because I sure enjoy gathering them.

Gehazi, I like your style.. and granted your surroundings I would say your collection is well justified. I live in Santa Cruz and tweakers are really the only wildlife I have to deal with on a regular basis!

Nicely done, Gehazi. Nicely done. :)

Just to torment you, I'll see if I can find an old image of John Powell's wall. Don't know how many survived the multiple transfer from computer to computer.
It'll be enough to make you weep. :)

John Powell's wall.jpg

btw, I can almost HEAR the mosquitoes buzzing in those pictures.

Be gentle with yourself.

LOL , yeah there are so many they can carry you off and you are down a pint before thirty minutes are passed :D, but I love this place.

yeah I have long kept up with Powell's collection, long admired it , I hope to be able to do anything that competently , part of this project is to properly get down weights and lengths and makers etc for everything , you can see the little wire tags in the group picture, once I get the final single shot, I tag them and weigh them.

First thing that comes to my mind seeing the yard picture is paddle faster, I hear banjo's!

Seriously nice pile of knives my friend. Guns and knives are about the only things in life that never torment me or cause me grief.

Cars, houses, people not always good.
