Hi all,

I'm currently between 3 knives for purchase:

- Spyderco Chaparral (~$90)
- Mcusta Tactility Plain VG-10 (~$120)
- Mcusta Tactility Damascus (~$140)

Which one gives more knife for the money?

And as a side question, how does Damascus perform compared to VG-10 for EDC?

Thanks in advance.

Spyderco as a brand is hard to beat for good value and quality IMHO.

- Mcusta Tactility Plain VG-10 (~$120)
- Mcusta Tactility Damascus (~$140)

The difference here is the Damascus "cladding" which is seen very often with Japanese knives. On a VG-10 I blade I consider it a decoration since the cutting edge and blade strength come from the VG-10 "core".

That's a question only you can really answer. A good quality knife that fits your needs is good "value for money".

Damascus cladding could get scratched if you abuse your knives. Under normal use, I find it wears well and looks pretty. ;)

The Tactility is a larger knife so I question the comparison. I have the Chaparral and like it. S30V should hold an edge a bit longer than VG10, but I would choose on the basis of other factors. They have different locks. I find Mcusta knives harder to open with one hand than other knives - it is almost impossible for me to open the Nami frame lock without using two hands. I don't know about the Tactility, but you should check out the reviews. The Chaparral is flat and small, and some Mcusta knives are thicker.
