Value of Fikes tanto?

Hi all,

I am curious, what would be the value of a Fikes tanto, with a 5" blade. I have one and I'd like to know what it's worth.

I would wager it would be in the 800+ range from the few I have seen recently. No tantos though. Hell a 3" is running around 500 in certain circles:) Get ahold of Win. He keeps a pretty close eye on work like that. Now that Fikes is in a new location that may have some impact on his prices. Nice problem to have though. You should post some pics for the rest of us though!

Joss, it would depend on what style it is, and the details. If it is one of his quickie "0" ring handle knives, i would say no more than $500.

If it is one of the later cord wrapped tantos with turks head knot, textured flats and more intricate markings etc. I would say $500-$600

If it has more elaborate texturing (thorns/thistles look), with more markings (blossom, "faces", dragonfly's etc.) I would say $600+++

Will also add that i had to sell one a few years back, and i regret it to this day, No i didnt make any real money on selling it, and it wouldnt have mattered, the regret would still be as strong.

That said, i do have another Fikes inbound :)
