actually, you shouldn't be asking such questions here, ya know? just saying.

that said, that's not the most desirable model.

Hey, wait a minute. William M. is a good guy who made an honest mistake. Let's all keep it civil and appropriate. I know that the question was inappropriate for this forum but if that had been your response then fine. But if your response has a little bit of sarcasm then don't be surprised if you get a little back. His question wasn't stupid, just asked in the wrong forum.

Need a little explanation here for me, please. William M. is a "Gold" member, therefore authorized to "ask about values". This is the Becker forum. Where better to get information and answers to questions about Beckers?

So my questions are:

Why is it inappropriate for a GOLD member, not a Registered Member or a Basic member, but a GOLD member, to ask about values of a Becker he is considering acquiring in the Becker forum?

If it is inappropriate to ask about Beckers in the Becker forum, just where the heck are you supposed to ask? Over in the Buck forum? The Ontario forum? The switchblade forum? Heaven forbid it would be the Busse forum. Maybe in Whine and Cheese?

I wasn't surprised that his response had a bit of sarcasm. I was however surprised that someone with 10,000+ posts doesn't know how to follow the forum rules.

From the Becker Forum Rules thread
Bladite said:
Q: Pricing/value questions, especially for speculative sellers, ESPECIALLY if you are not "GOLD" or higher - Bladeforums requires GOLD to sell... The gods get VERY cranky about this. This is covered under the "for the love of ghod, do not ask this question"

A: DO NOT DO THIS? clear? penalty: you must send Bladite the item or else

Basically ask over in the for sale forum, or do some research on your own I believe. It isn't hard to check eBay or GunBroker or other sites to find the answer.

not sure why this was such a mistake-but those who have had dealings with me KNOW I treat people VERY well

I was just asking a question

I closed this post on #5 and the MODS reopened it

Lets keep it closed--I learned

we prefer to not have threads closed unless we close them, and reserve the right to open them; we like to promote discussion and learning.

as pointed out, since about the day this sub-forum was created, it was decided that attempting to "determine value" was a no no. there are other ways to do that. we don't want to be one of those forums where people drop in to predate on the forum members with "juicy deals", and the like.

a gold member or better can point out their for sale post, and other members can heads up on posts on this forums, but outright asking "what is this worth?" nope.

and if you are gold or less and do it, or suggest you have stuff for sale, that's pretty much an instant ban right there per main forum rules.

opening a thread, asking for value, then locking it, is spammer behavior, imho. esp since it's against specific rules, but generally because "oh no you didn't".

please, this applies to everyone. don't do it.
