Tagged for the answer. That's the closest to a twin for mine that I've ever seen.

Hi Lone_Wolf,

tslater does have a VN era 4-7. It's a bit of an anomoly because it has the leather handle set of spacers for that era. A wooden handled Randall of that era should have the 7 spacer set. In your case the sheath indicates a Model 4-5, but in reality the knife is a Model 3-5. The tell is the hump on the spine coming off the hilt.

Stay safe in that sandbox!

Best,

Best,

Thank you for that info, Ron. Interesting that they mis-labelled the sheath, but I doubt that matters. Can you tell about how old mine might be, and a guesstimate what it might be worth?

And thank you, I'm trying to stay safe!

It's not that unusual for the shop to pair a Model 3 with a Model 4 sheath or a Model 4 with a Model 3 sheath if they run out. Thay've been doing that for decades. However, in your case I think the sheath is older than the knife by more than just a bit, and the knife is quite new relatively speaking. Sheldon is a better detective than I am on the newer stuff. Hopefully he'll wade in.

Best,

OP - ~$380, maybe more on a good day. The stone is a replacement.
L_W - '85 to '95
Ron - Good to see you posting here again.

Thanks for that, I'd have never guessed it was 20 years old by the condition it was in when I got it. Any idea what it might be worth? And thank you.
