I have came into this 124 and from what I can tell it is a pre 1971. I am going off of the upside down "Buck USA" with no 124 stamped. The lanyard hole and one pin in the steel butt cap. I would say it is conservative VERY good condition if not excellent or even near mint. I honestly didnt know if the older ones have any collectors value. Anyone have any idea of value for this knife? I cant say I am huge fan of all the Buck fixed blades but this one feels amazing in my hand. Reminds me a lot of some of my Randalls.20250812_220251.jpg20250812_220216.jpg

What a beauty! That's in outstanding condition for sure. Like New. May I ask how you came upon it? What a great find!

My father innlaws estate. He had a large collection of Bucks and other knives. All the kids and grandkids got everything they wanted. My wife and I took several Randalls and a few others. I boxed up the rest and have been slowly selling it all off. Most of it is run of the mill 90s or 2000s production. But then randomly i come across a few surprises like these. Also came across a 1968 Vietnam era Gerber Mark II in the "junk box". So i have started looking carfully at what i have.

His niece was a patient at St.Jude. so a portion of what i have been selling has been getting donated to St. Jude. I think it would make him feel better about his collection getting liquidated.also seeing the knives go to people who appreciate them rather than ending up at a pawn shop is rewarding.

Just my opinion...the condition of this knife and sheath is stellar and I would value it $400-$500 because of that. Most of the ones this age have a lot more wear. Fabulous find!

Here is a ltittle more info on this model

The white spacer was first on the handles of the 122/124 nemos then came the dyed red bone spacer - this is on the one that I have. Brown micarta was in shortage then the brown micarta came for the last of these before the handle was changed to slabs in 1971 or 2 from what I remember, I believe the one you have is the brown micarta the best I can see in the picture.

Good luck Pete
