Good afternoon

I am in the process of helping a friend liquidate a blade collection, which belonged to her deceased husband.

Unfortunately, I do not have any experience with Straight Razors.

Attached is a picture of a shadow box containing 10 of the 30 blades.

Can anyone give me a value range for these?

Thank you

you need goid membership to ask value questions.

Thanks for the info...I did review the post about asking value questions, and renewed my gold membership before posting this question. I found that I had forgotten to update my group membership after renewing the subscription.

An easy way to value them is to use advanced search on eBay and search sold listings for the razors in the collection.

eKretz is right. What an item is worth and what you can get for it are two completely different things.

You would have to at least post the brand names of these razors. It's like saying I have a gun. How much is it worth?
Brand? Condition? Age?

without closeups and makers marks, there is no way to know. A couple look like they could be very high dollar, but might be crap, and a few look like trash that might be worth a pretty penny.

Fully understand that better pictures are needed...I have requested those from her, and will upload them as soon as they arrive. I am being told that I should have them today or tomorrow. I appreciate the effort on this

The following are pictures of the individual razors. The first is a view into the shadow box, and she went down the line of razors.

The first picture would be of the blade, and the second is of the makers markings

Any help with these would be greatly appreciated.

Once values are determined, they will be posted for sale in the forums

Boy howdy that guy had some good taste. The Dovo, Thiers and Boker could be compared to current production for value, since they look really good, and I think are new-ish. I'm not as sure about the Wacker, but could be another good one. The ones with the electric pencil spines will need someone who knows customs, as I'm unfamiliar with those but I suspect some pretty solid coin there.

I see Boker, Thiers-Issard, Dovo, and Wacker; these are all well known and high quality razor makers. All of the others look like customs - these will be difficult to value without knowing the maker. I would suggest again that you should look at finished eBay auctions for prices, this will give you the most realistic (and unbiased by anyone who might be looking to purchase) numbers.

For the customs you would be far better served posting at a straight razor-specific site like Badger & Blade or Straight Razor Place. There are so many aficionados at these sites surely someone will be able to ID them, or at least the makers.

If you got any in the lot that say Sherman Cutlery or P.Eiseman or Philetse on them, PM me, I'll be interested as those are two brands I've been on the hunt for, for "local" nostalgia purposes...

Other then that, I can't make out any of the makers marks or tang stamps, since I'm on my phone with a cracked screen, and when I zoom in they get distorted.
