Hi all, I'm very new here. Where can I find the value of knives for trading/selling purposes?

Thanks

You can post pics and ask for values here...after you upgrade to a Gold (or higher) membership.

In addition to Chip's suggestion you can also do an Advanced Search on Ebay for "Sold Listings". Just type in the brand, pattern number, and the word knife. For example: "Case 22087 knife".

This is about the best way that I know of to get a feel for what a particular knife is selling for right now. You can use printed price guides but prices change so much that they are often outdated before they are even published.

Any transaction on a used item non-retail is a singularity. Condition is everything on the used market, and each particular item has seen varying degrees of use. A good starting point is the retail price of the exact same item, deducting for use (or lack thereof). If the item is not in production, compare to similar items. The perception of rarity also influences value for some buyers, although most mass produced non-collectors items were not rare at all, the perception of rarity can drive up price. Items produced for the purpose of collecting rather than using generally decline in value over time because of a lack of rarity (as most are hoarded, but not used). The time you are willing to wait for or find a buyer for your goods plays a role too. In each and every transaction, the seller wants the most value to be realized, the buyer wants to pay the least amount possible.
