Valuing a discontinued benchmade?

I've got a 470 Emissary, with the beadblasted aluminum handles that is now discontinued.

I'm considering selling or trading it for another knife, but I'm not sure how the fact that it's discontinued should affect my valuation of it. If it were currently available I'd just price it according to it's used condition.

Thoughts? Does it matter much that it's discontinued?

Thanks ya'll, Stephen.

It depends on the knife. Some hold or go up in value very well, others don't seem to make much difference... There are usually a lot of recently discontinued knives still in the pipeline, so that doesn't help increase the value.

I would just go do some searching on the bay for completed auctions, and see what they have been selling for. That will give you an idea what it is actually worth.

That was actually my first stop, but I couldn't find a single one.

I didn't buy it as an investment, so it doesn't affect me much either way really, I just don't want to under value it, if it ought to be priced higher.

I'm really only considering selling/ trading it, because I'm a knife junkie without cash for my next "fix" lol.

Selling it to fund your next knife seems like an easy solution right now. But I say def keep it and find another way to gather the money for your next knife. You'll certainly regret getting rid of it down the road. I've been there too many times myself.
