I have been looking for weeks and cannot find any information on the performance of Vanadis 10 steel as it compares to other steels used in knives.

I would appreciate any help I can get. I am mostly looking for how it compares to the other popular high end steels like 3V, CPM-20CV, Elmax ect when used as a mid size(5-6") fixed blade.

For reference I currently have knives in Elmax (microtech halo v) and 1095 (tops Tahoma Field Knife) and many in other cheap steels.

A little higher toughness than elmax. Higher wear resistance than elmax. Lower corrosion resistance.

Thank you. I ordered a custom/semi-custom made of it. I know that the maker uses many high end steels including m390 and elmax so I figured that if the maker decided it was good enough than I would be happy with it. I just wanted to know how to treat it, and what to expect.

This is from Knife Steel Composition Chart which is a smart phone app and put together by one of the members here:
Maker: Bohler-Uddeholm
Very high alloy, high wear resistance tool steel. As per manufacturer's documentation, very high wear resistance is achieved without significant compromises in toughness.
Capable of working hardness between 60-65. Properly heat treated, makes a very good knife blade.Have to go with course edges due to very high carbide volume, but thin and 15 degrees per side edge make an excellent cutter, which holds the edge for a very long time.

You're welcome. I should have a knife coming in the same steel fairly soon. I believe it'll be a good steel.

Hey knife steel wizard dudes, what, if any, comparison is there between this steel and VG-10, a Spyderco favorite steel?
