I know it has crazy wear resistance for a PM tool steel, but can’t find much as far as toughness is concerned. I’m looking at a 6” fixed blade in V10 to use as an outdoor/camp knife. Just want to make sure it’s not going to be prone to chipping. Any help is appreciated! Thanks!

yeah according to the pdf it's like twice the wear resistance compared to d2, and still tougher...
the one chart at page 5 shows that if you temper it on the higher temp, and draw down hrc to 60 that you get 25 J on a charpy...
but at typical 62 / 63 hrc, the toughness drops a bit below 20 J

(d2 is really quite low around 10 or 15J depending on temper)

if you want really hard use, get v4e instead : )
or 3v of course

That’s what I interpreted from the company PDF, but seems almost too good to be true. I’d use a well treated D2 pretty hard and not worry about it, so if Vanadis 10 is tougher than D2, it would perform more than adequately for my needs.
If the same knife was available in V4E, it would be my first choice.

Emailed maker and even he said it is not a very tough steel. Cuts for days, but wouldn’t baton with it. Probably better I choose a different steel.
