New article about Uddeholm Vanadis 8, a recent steel developed to compete with CPM-10V. Uddeholm claims a massive 3.7x improvement in toughness over 10V! I tested their toughness claims as well as measured hardness and edge retention. And I wrote about the history and development that led to Vanadis 8. https://knifesteelnerds.com/2020/12/07/vanadis-8-better-than-cpm-10v/

This is a steel I want to try. I found this article quite informative. Thank you for continuing to inform us with these articles.

Worth the read.

Patreon gets early access, I crushed it this weekend.

3.7x tougher than 10v ...
Color me impressed. I haven’t read your article yet but I hope the corrosion resistance wasn’t what was sacrificed in order to gain the toughness.

It doesn't actually have 3.7x the toughness of 10V of course. 10V isn't a stainless steel and either is Vanadis 8 so no corrosion resistance was sacrificed.

Just finished it, it is a bit “click baity”, understandably not on your part.
I love my 10V and the slight amount of corrosion is the only thing I can knock it on so I do when I can.
