Anyone have any input on how durable the Vanguard Begleiter blade coating is? I don't usually like coated knives, but I have a Begleiter, and I'm almost afraid to use it. The coating doesn't look nearly as robust as the one on the ESEE knives. (None of my other knives have coated blades.)

So I believe it is a standard TiNi coating, which is somewhat durable. It will show wear, but unless you are cutting bags of sand it won't show immediately. As is the nature with coated knives, though, the aesthetics are gone once the coating starts getting trashed.

IDK i kinda like the worn coating look. I like how it wears at the higher points of the grind. I'm crazy though so nm me.

Thanks for the info. I wonder why they bothered to coat the blade to start with. Rust resistance? I'd just wipe my knife with a rust inhibitor. Eh, what do I know.
