I'm just starting to search myself, but I'd appreciate any info about the long blade Vanguard version. It has a 5" blade, NS guard/pommel and what appears to be a laminated rosewood or such handle material. The Blade is stamped Buck/Anvil/Custom/USA.

Anyone know something about this one?

I don't recognize any thing in this model number that would give an indication about who they were made for.

Model: 192RWSVFG-B

There was a thread about another Buck knife that was unusual, offered by the same seller as the pictured knife a while back, and it was associated with a fancy European vendor. Maybe the same buyer is involved with this knife. I hope that you bot it because it looks like one of a kind in this neck of the woods. Bigger can be beautiful.

Dave,

Email your info to Joe H. He can look it up in Their files....if it's still there;)

The exact same knife, grind mark on tang, was listed for sale in Italy on the auction site. I wonder if the other ones like this went to Italy.

That's not a bad looking knife.
I think that one would fit well in the just one hunting knife thread.

I don't have the info your looking for but I'm starting to look into these as I want to add one to my collection. I've always like the Vanguard and think highly of it's capabilities.

So far no luck finding out much of anything on this end either. I sent an e-mail to Joe Houser a couple of days ago with the model number, but so far no reply.

Thanks to oregon, I do have this from the seller:

"Dear Steve,

This was the only one I had, and I don't think I will be getting more. As far as I understand, it was a limited run for a club out East. Thank you very much

Kindest Regards, Jacob
"

Well, I still have no furthur info on this one, but I have it in hand now.

I'm impressed. It's a factory blem, which I knew going in but it's only marked that way on the box per Buck's new policy. The small grind marks on the choil are almost identical on both sides, looks almost normal that way. It came as was stated by the seller with a nylon sheath for a 119 which fits it ok. I have several custom leather sheaths for 119's so I'll use one of them for it or I may have my local leather guy make me one like the standard Vanguard leather sheath. I'm going to see him tomorrow anyway to pick up a custom holster belt he's made for me, so that'll be a perfect time to look in to that.

I've thrown in a picture of the long one next to one of standard length to give it some scale.

It looks rich with the Nickel Silver fittings. You are a member of an exclusive club: Maxi-Vantage owners club. Congratulations, you've hit pay dirt fella. Sifting thru the sands of the auction site has its rewards. Well-earned and thank you for the photos.

Thanks Steve. I now have a standard-van and a maxi-van. Now I'm on the look out for one of the rare mini-vans!

I just received some info (from Joe) that lead me to the place that these long Vanguards were produced for. I've bought from them before (a similar enhanced 103). I'm told that there were "less" than 1000 of them made. They should show up in the next BCCI newsletter's Special Projects list. The knives all come in a really nice fitted cherrywood box.
